"We wanted [Bono] to play guitar, although he insisted on singing. Now we know why -- because he didn't have to buy or move any equipment."

Comments: Bono tells the crowd that U2 hung out with Green Day and Metallica a night earlier and talked about creating a new music festival. Lou Reed is at the show, prompting Larry to sing a bit of "Perfect Day" before Bono leads the crowd in singing "Happy Birthday" for a friend named John. He dedicates "Pride" to the Shriver family. After "Streets," Bono brings a fan from Poland on stage -- a guy who flew 20 hours to be at this show.
