I love U2. They are by far my favorite band in the world. I will always make an effort to see them perform live. Even when they get old end up playing Vegas 5 nights a week for a year, I will still go. Their music just moves me.
Now, having said that...this concert, overall, wasn't their best. I really hate to admit it. Maybe they just weren't into it, or they expected to be finished with this tour already. Maybe they're feeling more obligation than joy. I dunno. It seemed unfocused and the worst was the Metallica/Greenday summit story. It was trite.
The set lacked cohesion. Usually their songs segue nicely, but this concert was all over the place.
I really appreciated the inclusion of Zooropa. It didn't quite work, but nonetheless I liked it a lot. Seeing "All I Want is You" was AWESOME and unexpected. Edge, as usual, was AMAZING. The inclusion of space shuttle commander, Mark Kelly, speaking lyrics from "Space Oddity" and "Beautiful Day" made me cry. Frickin' U2. They're the best.
