Yeah, traffic was a bear, but with our handicap parking permit we got up close to the dome. Once inside we could hear Smashmouth already pounding out their set. Not bad. Stepping into the elevator we realized just how loud this spectacle was going to be as it echoed inside.
This was my first U2 concert. U2, my absolute favorite band, the last of the giants. Joshua Tree was my very first album and unlike most people Pop is one of my favorites.
What can I say, my very first Rock Concert and it's PopMart. Holy Cow. We were way up high but looking straight on. I was disappointed that the Silver Dome didn't sell out, as Chicago had, what, three dates?? I felt bad for Detroit and Michigan, missing such a great show.
We stood the entire time, though it was noticable that some people weren't into the new songs. "You should have seen ZooTV" I heard a lot of people say. Whatever, this concert was a dream to me.
U2 + Silver Dome + Cheap Seats = Wavering Sound Quality. That's my only complaint. The set opened muddy and whenever Bono spoke it was unclear. The Giant screen was great though and being in the back gave us a great show of it all. How about that dancer on there before they came out in the Lemon?? Was that a man or a woman?? It was cool that they pulled all those people onstate in costumes near the end.
Well, for my first concert it was AWESOME. U2 is AWESOME. Wish I would have bought tickets to more shows.
