"People talk about U2 being a 'live group' . . . because Bono will jump off the balcony to make a point -- but it's not me at all, it's Larry's bass drum."

Twickenham Sat 18th
Like Scott's post earlier I too booked with but have to blame TM for only being able to get 70 seats. What made me angry was having a restricted view - lighting stack between us and the stage!
Only other down side to the show were all secondary; t shirt stand with the women thinking it was a fashion house, can I feel it etc.. (sorry ladies its true!!) no wonder the line was long. The hype about the stage - it was far from the cutting edge we were led to believe, I think POPMART was more striking. If you want state of the art stages go to a Stones show!!
Anyway grumbles done and dusted, the show from Vertigo to Vertigo was stunning. I have been lucky enough to have seen the band each time since the Joshua Tree tour but had friends with me who are still awestruck today as it was their fisrt show ever and Twickenham does work well for concerts. I thought both the crowd and band were excellent all energy. Highlight was All I Want Is You. As for the encore, great to see Zoo Station back to its full glory complete with arm waving silhouette. Pity about the curfew but all good things come to an end - even if Bono said he didn't give a shit on the night - so much so they were off the stage to the second at 10.30pm !! He may be a match for world leaders but when it comes to local government noise inspectors............
